Bassoon Concerto: The Times of a Patriarch (2017)

The Bassoon Concerto: The Times of a Patriarch was composed during the summer of 2017 for David Oyen, who is Professor of Bassoon at Morehead State University. The solo bassoon in this concerto work represents “a patriarch”–with “nighttime” and “daytime” gestures and moods. These gestures and moods are amplified in a “postmodern” manner through the chamber orchestra accompaniment.  The work is to be performed attacca.
