Prelude and Escapade was composed on the model of Values and Proposals No. 4 in October 2018 and is based on thematic elements of that work. After a brief “Prelude” of introductory material, an “Escapade” follows without pause. This work contain much cyclical reference, and is replete with a variety of tense and calm expressions of tonal relations.
Prelude and Escapade is dedicated to Sandra Richards, Rena Long, Stephanie Sanders, and Elizabeth (“Betsy”) Foushee–the double reed (oboe, english horn, bassoon) performers in the Symphonicity Orchestra of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
