String Quartet No. 8 was written during the spring of 2020 in Hampton, Virginia for Mary Harris in honor of her lengthy career as a performing viola artist and chamber musician at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Three large connected sections are expressed in this single-movement work respectively:
